Vision for Mathematics

At Ward End Primary every child is a mathematician.

All pupils have a positive and resilient attitude towards mathematics. they are competent and confident in mathematical knowledge, concepts and skills. They develop the ability to solve problems, to reason, to think logically and to work systematically and accurately.

All pupils develop an understanding of mathematics that can be used in their everyday lives. The basic skills of mathematics are vital for the life skills of our children.

Maths Across the School

Ward End Primary School uses strategies within the National curriculum and beyond to secure such outcomes for students. The examples that follow show some of the many ways Ward End Primary School seeks to embed British values.

Mastering Number
Daily opportunities to informally develop mathematical understanding through child-initiated activities and routines which are capitalised upon.
KS1
White Rose/ NCETM materials (one hour daily)

Mastering Number (15 min session daily)
