MFL
Spanish is one of the world’s most spoken languages and our Spanish curriculum, aims to instil a love of language-learning embellished with growing knowledge and awareness of other places and cultures. We guide pupils to develop the confidence to communicate in Spanish for practical purposes, using both written and spoken Spanish.
Children also gain an understanding about how languages are interconnected through etymology – such as Arabic origins of many Spanish words and Latin origins of words in the English language. Kapow Primary’s Spanish scheme of work is well-structured, exciting and supports pupils to meet the National curriculum end of Key stage 2 attainment targets.
Through our engaging scheme of work, we aim to give pupils a foundation for language learning that encourages and enables them to apply their skills to other languages and facilitates the pursuit of further language study as they progress to assimilating more complex aspects of reading and writing Spanish in our local secondary schools.
